Mold Remediation Steps
Residential Mold Remediation
Mold is everywhere. It is in the air and on many surfaces but moisture-rich environments can cause mold to multiply to dangerous levels. If you can see or smell mold in your home, it’s time to call a specialist for testing and mold remediation. Left untreated, mold can ruin your home and cause a variety of health issues for those breathing in the contaminated air. Such conditions can include bronchitis, pneumonia, rhinitis asthma, and allergic reactions. Fortunately, we can remedy the problem.
We have developed a five-step mold remediation plan that we use for most of our clients. Understand that one mold situation may not be the same as another. So, if necessary, we customize our processes based on the condition.
Mold Assessment and Sampling
Often, depending on the circumstances, the extent of damage and contamination differs. We focus on careful assessment of the overall mold situation in your house. The easiest way is to follow moisture and water pathways. Sometimes the mold is everywhere. Areas around corners, ceilings and near the ground have the most contamination. A visual inspection is not enough so we always perform air quality testing to ascertain the level of contamination. Mold spores in the air can point to a hidden colony. We suggest that you mark or note all of the places you are concerned about in your home before contacting us, even though we will perform this air quality testing. You can take videos or images of the mold damage which you may need for further documentation.

Prepare For Remediation
At this stage, tools and equipment are required. A remediation plan which will include the project timelines and the cost structure is also necessary. Our teams will then prepare the home for the remediation process, provide you with cost estimates, and arrange for construction work where needed. During this process we also remove items that could get in the way and we like to store valuables inside protective covers. We then finish preparing the area for cleaning and ready the cleaning solutions.
Remove and Repair
Effective mold control involves cleaning and checking the area to make sure that all leaks are stopped or corrected. It is important to make sure that all vulnerabilities are fixed before we start the process. Water and humidity levels in a home give this fungal menace a breeding ground. So it is important to identify and correct all plumbing problems. Also, we ensure that the home’s air conditioning system is working fine. All contaminated parts have to be removed. But we have to be careful since during the removal process of moldy areas mold can be released into the air. Sometimes it is possible that we can remove, treat, refurbish and return items. If not, we have to replace what is damaged.
Clean, Decontaminate and Dispose
Once we are done with the above mentioned work, we embark on a mission to clean and disinfect the building/area. The process involves sorting and decision-making. Some items have to be disposed of safely, as their mold levels are toxic where some of the items can be salvaged through proper sanitary processes. We may need several solutions and a HEPA-approved vacuum cleaner to finish this step.
We have been in this business long enough to avoid potential pitfalls that mold remediation companies make and have the tools to make every step a success.
Every plan has a checklist of things that we have to confirm before we conclude the work. We must review your HVAC systems and test air quality to ensure that the cleaning was successful. We also help you return your items safely after we have certified that the place if fit for you to return.
